Mission
Miigaadiwin Media & Events is an Indigenous owned company founded in 2024. Miigaadiwin aims to uplift & connect Indigenous and non-Indigenous Artists, Writers and Creatives through grants, events, publishing, multi-media/marketing support, opportunities & more!
Miigaadiwin prioritizes reciprocity within our communities, and we are excited to continue growing this vision through multiple avenues!
Vision
Miigaadiwin has many goals for servicing, supporting & employing the community. Working with youth, the unhoused, incarcerated/previously incarcerated, Indigenous Land/Rights Defenders & many others will be some of our first priorities as Miigaadiwin grows.
Miigaadiwin is grounded in the Principle of Reciprocity, meaning that the more growth the company sees, the more we wish to give back to the community.


About the Founder
Renee Corbiere (Waawaasmokwe)
Miigaadiwin Media & Events was founded in 2024 by Renee Corbiere.
Renee is a member of Batchewana Ojibway First Nation (Baawaating), which is her late father's community. Her mother is a member of the Kanesatake Mohawk First Nation, and also the daughter of an Irish settler.
Renee graduated McGill University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in International Development and minoring in Indigenous Studies. From a young age, Renee has worked within the Indigenous community through many fields/avenues. Growing up, she was taught by her family that as Indigenous people, it is a responsibility we have to fight for Our People.
Renee's career has seen her working in Education, Research (historical, statistical, consultational), Shelter & Street Work, Workshops & Events, and other areas within the Indigenous community.
Renee is also an independent music artist performing by the name Waawaasmokwe. Miigaadiwin is a vision for interconnected work in the Arts & other fields which can enrich and uplift our communities.
